I have known Mr Peter Doody now for two years, three mponths scince he initially won the tender for our contract at 83 Carrington Parade, New Lambton Heights. Essentially I have worked closely with him over the last two years in demolishing and re-building a home. Our home is all but completed and I wish to provide a reference for Peter.

Our architect Justin Hamilton and we have found his workmanship to be first class, particularly with the large amount of polished concrete and woodwork within our project. In particular, throghout this project Peter has shown a strong sense of responsibility and commitment, especally in the area of expediture. Our cost over-run for what is a major project will end up being less than 3%, which is remarkable.

Click to Enlarge I have known Peter Doody since he started work as a young builder on the Central Coast, New South Wales, in the 1980s. He built our first house on the Central Coast. The project was a 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom full brick two-storey residence with a pitched slate roof, a large two-car garage and a workshop. Apart from performing all of the car-pentry Peter took on the roof tiling after the Sydney-based company — specialised in church spires — was unable to construct successfully the complex geometry of the roof lines. Peter Doody's company took on the project as the general contractor, managing successfully all subcontractors, including electricians, plumbers, tilers and landscapers. The project was completed in a timely manner to my wife's and my complete satisfaction.
Peter Doody's integrity and personable demeanour creates a pleasant working environ-ment. Since he first worked for us, Peter has looked after all of our building require-ments.

My wife & I contracted Peter Doody constructions to build our new home, construction started in March 2007. Our home was designed by Harvey Little of Lindsay little &Associates (Architects Lindfield)
Harvey Little initially introduced me to Peter, as he had done numerous jobs for Harvey's clients over many years, my wife & I went to see some of these jobs and speak with the owners, we did plenty of investigation & obtained competitive quotes from other builders, the reason we chose Peter was that the homes were all architect designed with obvious build issues to overcome, all of these homes had quality finishes with happy owners.
It is a three-storey home built on a concrete slab with two suspended slabs & filled concrete blocks, I am sure the right person might go into much more technical detail on this.
I was personally on the job myself almost the entire time of building, Harvey Little was also to make regular visits to overseer the work, during that time I saw Peter's team doing all the form & steel work involved with the concreting.
I was soon to understand what a complex job this was & Peter never had any issues with any of the complexities during the con-struction, working with all the trades people who come onto the job was never an issue.
An example of understanding, I wanted polished & filled Travertine flooring throughout our home, one of the homes we visited that Peter had built had this also so me this was important to have a builder that understood the issues of having this type of fm-ish, I did much investigation into this personally, the end result is I believe outstanding.
We did have numerous changes that we wanted during building, which I am sure would happen to most jobs depending on how much detail the architect & client went into before construction. At all times when we discussed changes it was done in a very understanding & cordial manner, I say this as I have spoken with people who have built & when they want changes the builder makes them very uncomfortable, this was not the case for us as, Peter wanted us to have the end result which we wanted.
Many trades are involved in the construction of any home, I was also to understand how much diversity Peter's team have in doing so much themselves, Peter is not an absentee builder he is on the job at all times working & overseeing, which was a pleasure to see as well, this gives obvious benefits to any owner.
The proof is in the pudding as they say, after three years in our new home we are more than happy, I do not say that during con-structions every detail just went so smoothly, like anything in life, it had it's issues (nothing major) the most important thing was they were overcome in a professional manner. We have had some jobs that we needed to be re visited, all of these only small, Peter has always been available and to his word fixed these without any issues.
The building of our home was a big project, it took the time, I think very complex as I said before, it was obvious to me Peter had no issues with any of the process and challenges that a building like this gives any builder
I would be more than happy if a potential client wanted to visit our home or call me personally, there are so many details; too much to put into a reference such as this and some peoples questions are different to others as we know.

In 1998 we commissioned Peter Doody Constructions Pty Ltd to construct four sizable, premium market focused waterfront houses in Cammeray, on Sydney's lower north shore. The construction lasted around eighteen months and the first home was sold in June 1999 for $ 2.40 mil which was then a record for the street. Subsequent houses sold for $ 2.35 mil and $ 2.25mil. The remaining house is still occupied by my family. In the 12-13 years since completion of the remaining houses, only one house has changed hands, which was earlier this year. The buildings are available for inspection from the road at any time and there has been minimal maintenance required other than repainting of the exteriors. Our home is available for inspection internally by appointment. The construction is of a very high quality and all four homes remain in the premium market space. As the developer, I found the principal Peter Doody very approachable and extremely knowledgeable in modern building techniques (the beautiful tempered glass entrance doors). He is a perfectionist, which probably accounts for the numerous awards that I see from his website http://www.peterdoodybuilding.com.au/about.html that his company appears to have won subsequently. Developing large projects is by nature is a fairly stressful time and on recollection whilst I still re-count the stress of such a major undertaking I recall the professionalism of Peter and his team in handling all supplier issues and in general making sure that we received value right across the build-ing supply chain.
The building site was, is still, a step site running down to Middle Harbour and we had difficulty engag-ing a builder due to the significant logistics challenges the site presented. Peter Doody was unfazed by the challenge, constructing a temporary roadway that ran zigzag to the bottom of the site to allow access for the heavy machinery which saved usa significant amount of site development costs. Peter's "can do" attitude even extended to his company undertaking the initial demolition and removal of the old residence when we had trouble getting resources during a high demand period for building resources. Additionally, I recall at the closing stage that Peter's firm managed the landscaping and road rehabilitation for us. Additionally Peter dealt exclusively with North Sydney Council building inspectors and planners on all matters relating to the construction which provided a fairly smooth passage. At 62 I doubt I will be building a new home again or undertaking any major projects. If I were, however, I would without hesitation, engage the services of Doody Constructions and I have referred several people to them already. In a nut shell, they are professional, deliver (pretty close to) on-time, keep you fully abreast of pro-gress. I would be happy to discuss with any prospective user of Doody Construction's services my personal experience. Additionally the proof is in the pudding, as they say. The house is standing to-day as an excellent example of a contemporary, high quality,well build home.
