2009 HIA Hunter Home of the Year

"A contemporary custom built home that fully capitalises on the unique waterfront location at Salamander Bay was judged the HIA-CSR Hunter Home of the Year at the 2009 HIA-CSR Hunter Housing Awards.
The announcement capped as evening of success for first time awards entrant Peter Doody Constructions who had earlier taken out the categories for Custom Built Home over $1 million and overall winner Custom Built Home of the Year.
In a unanimous decision the judges said this home has been designed to create an energy efficient lifestyle. From the moment you enter the home you are welcomed by an open spacious layout, through from the sleeping, living and entertaining areas all with a great practical appeal.
The glorious views of the harbour have been an important component in the internal design on all three levels ensuring that every opportunity has been taken to capture the natural beauty that is on the doorstep, the judges said.

Constructed over three levels, with the central level opening onto a glass covered entertainment area, the design included extensive use of glass featuring frameless glass doors and balustrades on all three levels to maximize the panoramic views.
The central level provides the area for day to day living and entertaining, the lower level is self a contained area, and features an internal boat storage area with electric winch to assist in the retrieval of your boat from the private boat ramp.
All entertaining and living areas of the property have been tiled with travertine then ground and polished, and the central internal staircase features solid one piece travertine treads and risers."
